The European Tech Weekly Notable Startup Funding Report takes on a trip across various ecosystems in Europe, highlighting some of the notable funding activity in the various markets that we track. The notable European Tech startup fundings for the week ending 27/5/23 featuring funding details for Signaloid, Patient21, and fourteen other European deals representing £536M in new funding that you absolutely need to know about.


Insider – $105.0M

Kagithane-based Insider enables marketers to connect customer data across channels, predict behavior with AI, and individualize cross-channel experiences. Founded by Arda Koterin, Hande Cilingir, Mehmet Sinan Toktay, Muharrem Derinkok, Okan Yedibela, and Serhat Soyuerel in 2012, Insider has now raised a total of $272.1M in total equity funding and is backed by Esas Private Equity and Qatar Investment Authority.


Ariadne – $7.0M

Munich-based Ariadne is a high technology company that provides people counting and customer flow analytics with its patented cutting edge AI technology. Founded by Georgios Pipelidis and Nikos Tsiamitros in 2019, Ariadne has now raised a total of $9.3M in total equity funding and is backed by Lamda Development and Marathon Venture Capital.


Axelera AI – $23.0M

Eindhoven-based Axelera AI is an artificial intelligence chip manufacturer that creates AI hardware and software platforms for edge computing. Founded by Evangelos Eleftheriou and Fabrizio Del Maffeo in 2021, Axelera AI has now raised a total of $62.0M in total equity funding and is backed by CDP Venture Capital, Fractionelera, Innovation Industries, and Verve Ventures.

Madrid-based Jotelulu is a cloud platform that transforms small IT companies into cloud service providers. Founded by David Amorin in 2019, JOTELULU has now raised a total of €5.0M in total equity funding and is backed by Adara Ventures, Bankinter, Big Sur Ventures, and G2A Investment Partners.


neoom ag – €16.0M

Freistadt-based neoom is a European Cleantech scale-up founded in Austria. Founded by Walter Kreisel in 2018, neoom ag has now raised a total of €53.9M in total equity funding and is backed by B&C Innovation Investments and ING Sustainable Investments.


Sastrify – $22.0M

Cologne-based Sastrify is a virtual SaaS service procurement software that improves SaaS operations management and SaaS spending. Founded by Maximilian Messing and Sven Lackinger in 2020, Sastrify has now raised a total of $45.2M in total equity funding and is backed by Endeit Capital, FirstMark, HV Capital, Simon Capital, and TriplePoint Capital.

Satellite Vu – £12.7M

London-based Satellite Vu An Earth Observation and satellite imagery analytics company deriving insights into economic activity Founded by Anthony Baker, Simon Tucker, and Tobias Reinicke in 2016, Satellite Vu has now raised a total of £31.3M in total equity funding and is backed by Molten Ventures.


UNDO – £9.6M

Darlington-based UNDO is a carbon removal company specilaising in enhanced rock weathering Founded by Jim Mann in 2022, UNDO has now raised a total of £9.6M in total equity funding and is backed by AENU and Lowercarbon Capital.


Builder.ai – $250.0M

London-based Builder.ai offers a no-code AI-powered app development platform designed to build and operate software projects. Founded by Sachin Dev Duggal and Saurabh Dhoot in 2016, Builder.ai has now raised a total of $445.0M in total equity funding and is backed by ICONIQ Capital, Insight Partners, Jungle Ventures, and Qatar Investment Authority.


FLOWX.AI – $35.0M

Bucharest-based FLOWX.AI wraps and orchestrates legacy systems that enable organizations to construct digital apps for mission-critical flows. Founded by Ioan Iacob and Serban Chiricescu in 2020, FLOWX.AI has now raised a total of $43.5M in total equity funding and is backed by Dawn Capital, Day One Capital, PortfoLion Capital Partners, and SeedBlink.

London-based Laced is an e-commerce platform that allows users to buy and sell sneakers. Founded by Chris Gibbons in 2018, Laced has now raised a total of $13.0M in total equity funding and is backed by B&Y Venture Partners, Bart Swanson, Eric Archambeau, H&M Group Ventures (Prev. H&M CO:LAB), Talis Capital, and TrueSight Ventures.


Paydock – £25.0M

London-based Paydock is a fintech offering orchestration solutions to financial institutions, brand retailers and non-profit organizations. Founded by Robert Lincolne in 2012, Paydock has now raised a total of £25.0M in total equity funding and is backed by IAG Silverstripe.


Signaloid – £3.0M

Cambridge-based Signaloid is a cloud-based computing platform. Founded by Phillip Stanley-Marbell in 2019, Signaloid has now raised a total of £3.0M in total equity funding and is backed by Creator Fund, IQ Capital, and Type One Ventures.

VarmX – £30.0M

Leiden-based VarmX B.V. is manufacturing therapeutic proteins to instantaneously restore blood clotting in bleeding patients. Founded by Paul Bilars and Pieter Reitsma in 2016, VarmX has now raised a total of $101.0M in total equity funding and is backed by BioGeneration Ventures, EQT life science, European Innovation Council, LEH, Lundbeckfonden Ventures, Sound Bioventures, Wake Forest Innovation Quarter, and Ysios Capital.


Nearfield Instruments – $11.0M

Rotterdam-based Nearfield Instruments develops and markets High-Throughput Scanning Probe Metrology systems for semiconductor manufacturing Founded by Hamed Sadeghian and Roland van Vliet in 2016, Nearfield Instruments has now raised a total of $70.6M in total equity funding and is backed by Innovation Industries, Invest-NL, and TNO.


Patient 21 – $76.0M

Berlin-based Patient 21 is a healthtech company that aims to empower patients and doctors to make better decisions by leveraging data. Founded by Nicolas Hantzsch in 2019, Patient 21 has now raised a total of $155.9M in total equity funding and is backed by Artian Investments, Bertelsmann Investments, Maria Raga, Mario Kohle, PICO Venture Partners, Pitango VC, Piton Capital, and Target Global.
